My name is Florence Crombecque, I was born Strasbourg, France, in 1990

And I am a traveler.

In 2020 I quit my dream job in order to follow my inner call for freedom, left for too long in the background. Following a professional training in nature management and protection, I worked in a job that I loved, as project coordinator in a scientific association focused on protecting bats.

I was responsible for creating pedagogical material in order to educate and raise awareness among the general public about these surprising mammals. Accompanying behavioral change towards them and more generally towards nature was my main focus for 7 years.

Then I decided to leave everything behind; a decision born from eco-anxiety and a strong will to find myself again and to take care of myself. I will give more details on my personal experience about climate urgency and my behavior in an article about eco-anxiety.

Between 2020 and 2022, big changes have happened in my life, brought on by travel, discoveries and approach of different cultures that enabled me to move along my path and to come back to what was really important for me. Until I found hypnosis.Back in 2009, right after my high school graduation, I went down the college study path in psychology, in Strasbourg. I had then interviewed an anesthetist-hypnotherapist for research and I found this topic fascinating. Unfortunately, at the time, I lacked self-confidence and never finished those studies. I pushed hypnosis from my professional horizon, discouraged by the control of the medical field on certifications in this area (learn more here).

Any dark situation in which you find yourself is an invitation to initiation.

Marie Louise Van Franz* The Feminine in Fairy Tales, 1999

What got me to go back to hypnosis was while at sea, during my 1-year stay in Tasmania.

I was sailing with a captain that I met on the Internet, a modern way to hitch a boat. That day, guests were present on the boat and I was talking to a speech therapist who specialized in eating and chewing disorders. She told me about her worry for a 12-year old patient who was refusing to eat.

This young girl was prematurely born and had endured forceful feeding through nasal passage, which had left scars on her face and in her nose. Our guest confessed that her medical team and she were out of solutions to reconcile the patient with food.

I do not know what happened to that young girl, but her story moved me and triggered a solidarity feeling in me. My brain started to search through my knowledge about child development and general knowledge for an idea, a potential solution. Then, I turned to the stories that heal, these stories which can have such a meaningful impact in a person’s life… as long as you “find the right story for the right person and at the right time”, as declared by famous storytellers Michael Lonsdale and Pierre Bellemare. As I was looking for information about the creation of these tales, I found the book of Olivier Lockert* “Métaphores – Apprenez à créer des histoires qui guérissent” (Metaphors – Learn to create tales that heal) from IFHE editions, i.e. the Institut Française d’Hypnose Ericksonnienne et Humaniste (French Institute of Ericksonian and Humanist Hypnosis). Hypnosis and short therapy protocols reflect perfectly my life story, my longing for exploring the human psyche and brings a solution to eco-anxiety.

This is it, it all makes sense. I then became a mind traveler alongside my earthy adventures.
